Public Transportation
Tajikistan Government's initiative to modernize its public transportation system, achieving goals of reducing emissions, improving public transportation, and reducing costs.

Background:

As electric vehicles (EVs) become increasingly prevalent, the demand for EV charging stations is growing rapidly. Tajikistan, with its significantly lower electricity prices compared to oil and worsening environmental conditions, is actively promoting the adoption of electric vehicles and the development of charging infrastructure. The local government has set ambitious goals, including the establishment of hundreds charging stations in Dushanbe within three years, and the expansion of this network to the four largest cities in the country. Additionally, there is a strategic initiative to convert all public transportation to electric vehicles.

In 2022, the Tajikistan government undertook a significant initiative to modernize its public transportation system by integrating electric buses. As part of this effort, Grasen Power was selected to provide the EV charging solutions for the project.

Solution Provided:

Grasen Power supports this transition with advanced charging solutions, including 500 units of reliable and high-quality R Series 120kW DC Chargers. These chargers are tailored to meet the needs of a large-scale public transportation network. They feature CCS2+ CCS2 standards and compatibility with a range of electric buses. The system allows dual-head simultaneous charging and dual-station simultaneous charging, capable of charging up to 80% in just 15 minutes. If chargers are idle, they can be shared to the public to generate additional revenue.

Additionally, we offer open cloud access rights, allowing operators to use Grasen’s software management platform. At the same time, the software has been encrypted based on customer requirements to ensure the security of operating data.

Outcome:

The successful installation of these charging stations in 2022 has played a pivotal role in enabling the seamless operation of Tajikistan’s electric bus fleet. The project has helped the government achieve its goals of reducing emissions, improving public transportation, and reducing costs.

Charging electric buses is significantly more cost-effective than refueling with gasoline or diesel, due to several factors:

Energy Costs: The price of electricity is typically lower than that of gasoline or diesel.

Maintenance Costs: Electric buses have fewer mechanical components and don’t require frequent oil changes or filter replacements.

Government Subsidies: In many regions, EVsprojects benefit from government subsidies, further reducing operational costs.

Statistically, operating electric buses compared to traditional ones can save 30-50% in costs.
